Some delegates from the newly created Awutu Senya West Constituency in the Central Region who were returning from the just-ended National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s special delegates' congress in Kumasi, on board a VW Golf IV saloon car with registration number GE1758-10, have been involved in a serious accident.

There was no fatality. The accident occurred a few metres away from New Edubiase in the Adansi South District of the Ashanti Region.

Those who got injured were Sulemana Abdulai, owner of the car who also doubles as the constituency treasurer and National Youth Employment Programme coordinator for the Awutu Senya Municipal Assembly; Andrews Donkor, constituency secretary; Tuarik Amadu, constituency propaganda secretary; Faustina Naa Lamley, constituency deputy women's organiser and Dawuda, a branch chairman and driver of the car.

The victims sustained some injuries and were rushed to the Edubiase Hospital for treatment.

The accident, which occurred at about 12midnight, was as a result of an on-coming car which beamed a high light on the diver, making visibility difficult for Dawuda.

He therefore lost control of the vehicle, with the car veering off the road and somersaulting several times.

The Municipal Chief Executive of Awutu Senya Municipal Assembly, Dr. Nuhu Adams, who was on the same vehicle with this reporter, also on their way back from Kumasi, received a call about the accident and was told to go to the New Edubiase hospital where the victims were admitted for treatment.

Dr Adams quickly rushed to the hospital and on arrival, he met the District Chief Executive of Adansi South District and his coordinator, as they were also called by some residents of the town who realized the victims were NDC supporters.

The two chief executives, after visiting the victims, proceeded to the accident scene.

Dr. Nuhu Adams thanked his colleague from Adansi South District before leaving for Kasoa with the victims.
