Ningo, Aug. 24, GNA – The Acting President of the Great Ningo Traditional Council, has urged Ningos to unite to accelerate the development of the traditional area.

Nene Atiapa made the call when he addressed chiefs and people at a colourful durbar to mark the annual Great Ningo festival on Tuesday.

The chiefs, Asafoatsemei, elders, and clan heads arrived at the durbar grounds amidst drumming and dancing where the people had converged for the sprinkling of their traditional meal popularly known as “Kpekpe”.

Nene Atiapa reiterated the stance of the Ningos that the traditional area deserved and qualified for a district of its own.

He therefore urged government to reconsider its decision of denying Ningos a new district.

Nene Asafoatse Odoi III, a leading member of Loweh-Kpono Clan at Great Ningo, pledged the determination of the Ningos to resist attempts by any disgruntled elements to foment trouble and chaos in the area.

Mr Ebenezer Amanor, Chairman of the Great Ningo Youth Association urged the youth in the area to close their ranks and rally solidly behind their traditional rulers to develop Ningo.

Mr Amanor further advised the youth to respect the elderly and guard against social vices because they had the tendency to ruin their future lives.
