C/R CHASS launches 50th Anniversary

Cape Coast, June 20, GNA - The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), on Wednesday launched its 50th anniversary celebration for the Central Region in Cape Coast, with a call on its members to be more resolute in the execution of their duties.

The Launch, which was on the theme: “50 years of school leadership: transforming the youth national development, “ was attended by various Senior High Schools in the Central Region, and was preceded by a float through some principal streets of Cape Coast on Wednesday morning.

Launching the anniversary, which is scheduled for August later this year, Mr. Francis Amissah, a former Headmaster of St. Augustine's College, and guest of honour for the occasion, noted that education was key to national development.

He said CHASS had played significant roles in the development of education in Ghana, and called for support for the association to enable it improve upon its performance.

Mr. Amissah called on members to be firm, united and resolute in contributing to the development of education in Ghana.

He asked heads of schools to improve their relationship with parents, guardians, alumni and the community, to enhance teaching and learning.

He noted that the education of a child was a joint responsibility of guardians, parents and the school and appealed to parents and guardians to regularly attend Parent Teacher Association meetings to be conversant with schools programmes and activities.

Madam Cecilia Kwakye Cofie, the Regional Vice Chairperson of CHASS, noted that the theme for the celebration was appropriate, and said she was grateful to God for the progress of the association.
