Mr Adu Gyamfi, Effiduase District Manager of the Electricity Company of Ghana, has advised customers to use electricity wisely to reduce power wastage and also to save money in their pockets.

Mr. Adu Gyamfi, gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, at Effiduase, and explained that the company had not increased its tariffs as was being speculated by some people, adding it was the consumption of people which had gone up.

He stated that the Company was doing its best to provide quality service to consumers and had initiated measures to meet the high demand from the public.

He advised the public to put off their electrical appliances when they were not in use or would remain unused for sometime.

He observed that many people left their appliances on when they were away from home and this could be over a long period.

Mr. Adu Gyamfi said that one of the best ways for people to reduce their monthly tariffs was to put appliances like bulbs, televisions, computers, radios and others off when sleeping and added that, domestic refrigerators could be used for only twelve hours a day to conserve energy and also save money.

Commenting on the frequent power outages in the Ejisu Juaben Municipality, he said that the company was not happy about the situation and apologized to consumers in the area and said the company was working around the clock to resolve the situation.

The Manager appealed to the public to report illegal consumers in their communities for sanctions since that contributed to the high cost of electricity.
