The death is announced of Richard Korku Avornyotse, General Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG).
Koku Avornyotse popularly known as “Papa Richie” died in the early hours of Monday, October 6, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a protracted illness.
He was 57 and left behind a wife and four children.
A statement issued and signed by William Ezah, Deputy General Secretary of the Association, said funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
Korku Avornyotse was a Chief Reporter at the Ghana News Agency (Sports Department).
Meanwhile the statement has asked all members to endeavour to attend the next General Meeting of the Association fixed for Thursday, October 9, at the premises of New Times Corporations at 5:00 pm.
