Negative Comments On Award Unfortunate — Prof. Mills
02.06.2008 LISTEN

The Presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor John Evans Atta Mills, has broken his silence on his nominations by the President, for the highest state award, describing the negative comments as unfortunate and unhealthy for national development.

Prof. Mills told the Daily Graphic at his Kuku-Hill office that "the insults from his critics only go to give credence to the erroneous impression that 'politics is a dirty game".

The aspirant said this after a leading member of the party, Mr George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, had donated two new pick-ups valued at $32,000 to the party in Accra.

Prof. Mills who declined to comment further on the subject said " my friend, I would rather prefer to leave the critics in that confused state than to waste time debating this issue."

He announced that he would return to the Western Region today to continue with his campaign and later move to the other regions adding that "we have to tell our people how we will create jobs, expand the infrastructure and invest positively in the people."

On the donation, Prof. Mills, expressed delight about the willingness of people to support the party to take power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The NDC presidential aspirant who received the car keys from Mr Ricketts-Hagan, said apart from the donation being a source of inspiration to other donors who believed in the values and principles of the NDC, it would help the party to effectively prosecute its campaign agenda.

He thanked the donor for his kind gesture and noted that it would serve as an encouragement to others.

Mr Ricketts-Hagan challenged members of the party, both in Ghana and in the Diaspora, sitting on the fence for fear of intimidation, to come out to join the campaign team of Prof. Mills.

"The nation needs a leader who can lead us into the path of economic prosperity and redeem us from our sufferings.

That leader must be honest, sincere, caring, humble and truthful. That leader must be a man with vision and experience and I see such qualities in Prof Mills” he said.
