Lawyer and human rights advocate Gloria Ofori Boadu has announced her intention to contest the Abuakwa South Constituency seat on the ticket of the NPP.

She says her track record over the past 11 years with members in the various communities can secure her the peoples' mandate. She was speaking in an interview with JOY NEWS at Amanfrom near Kibi in the Eastern Region.

Nana Akufo Addo, NPP flag bearer and current occupier leaves the seat in pursuit of the presidency in the coming elections.

According to Gloria Ofori Buadu, her decision to contest the seat is a continuation of her service to the people of the area over the past 11 years, and as a chance to serve a much higher level, after establishing business opportunities in income generating activities, human rights empowerment and other ventures.

She says she is not threatened by the sudden emergence of five other male contestants for the seat. Gloria Ofori Buadu added that her possible election would see an addition in the female representation in parliament for the Eastern Region. So far only one of the 28 Parliamentary seats in the region is occupied by a woman, a situation she described as unfortunate.
