The Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, the Rt. Rev. Dr. E.K Gbordzoe has called on Christians and other religious bodies to pray regularly for a peaceful election this year.

He noted that even though the country had had four successful elections, the shaky nature of the African continent in relation to political elections should serve as a warning signal to Ghanaians since similar things could happen if the necessary precautions were not taken during this year's elections.

The Moderator who made the call at an induction service of the synod Committee Executives of the Global Church held at Ho pointed out that the political conflict in Kenya should spur Ghanaians to work hard to protect the existing peace in the country irrespective of their political and ethnic differences.

The Moderator also asked politicians to avoid the use of provocative languages during campaigns but rather address issues than attacks on personalities adding that such conducts would ensure a healthy campaign, which he noted, would enable the electorate to make discerning and informed choices.

The Moderator used the opportunity to commend the media for its efforts in educating the populace on their civic responsibilities and called on them to be fair and unbiased towards all political parties in putting their campaign messages across.

Contributing, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Prof. John Atta Mills who sat quietly as the moderator addressed the congregation lauded the efforts of the church in promoting peace and social stability over the years.

Prof. Mills whose speech was interrupted intermittently as the congregation mobbed him stressed that he did not only represent the NDC but all Ghanaians who needed change in the governance of the country.

The NDC flag bearer expressed concern about the current educational reforms noting that the absence of religious and moral education in schools made such educational systems incomplete and described as unfortunate.

“An educational system without embedding in the youth the fear of the God and acceptable moral values makes such educational system incomplete”.

Prof. Mills urged Ghanaians to stand firm and pray for the nation in what he referred to as “difficult times” adding that there was the need to rely on the Holy Spirit in such difficult times.

The Rt. Rev. Dr. E.K Gbordzoe was formerly inducted as the Moderator , Rev. P.Y. Tefe Synod Clerk, Rev. S.D.K. Dumevi as the P.I C R S., Mr. Kojo Mattah , treasurer, Mrs. Enyonam Keteku, the Female Presbyter and Mr. E.K. Agozie as the Male Presbyter. Prayers were offered for all the Presidential candidates as well as the nation.
