The Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin has challenged Ghanaians to take the pursuit of knowledge seriously so as to prove wrong the notion that quality education is the preserve of the rich.

He noted that quality education was the bedrock of every developed country hence the need for Ghana's future leaders to acquire rich knowledge to be able to handle the challenges of the future.

Osagyefo Amoatia threw the challenge in Accra last Wednesday at the launch of KSM's book titled: “UNLOCKING THE JOB MARKET: The Winning Formula”.

The 92-page book highlights the dynamics of application letters, tips for fresh graduates, students career networking, the perfect curriculum vitae, application follow-ups, interview skills, among other topics.

The Okyehene called also for elaborated state investment in education, saying, “the country's educational system should be geared towards generating creative and idea-oriented graduates who can contribute to the socio-economic development of this country.

“It is our duty as parents and government to make public investment in the youth, who are the future of Ghana's development.”

Osagyefo Amoatia, who is an advocate of youth development, stressed that Ghana was endowed with minerals and other natural resources such as gold and cocoa but Ghanaians had failed to use their knowledge and ideas to translate those resources into gains for the country.

“The development of every nation depended on the knowledge base of its citizens and their ability to use their knowledge and ideas to bring about development. However, quality education has now become the preserve of the rich in the country, to the neglect of the rural poor.”

For his part, Rev Dr Mensah Otabil, the General Overseer of the International Central Gospel Church, who described the author as a professional comedian, asked the youth to learn to market
themselves well if they wanted to penetrate the job market.

He observed that it was academically prudent for students to read wide and improve their knowledge base, and urged the youth to take advantage of the global market to enhance their skills.

The CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ms Joyce Rosalind Aryee said KSM wrote the book in response to his desire to help others, and recommended the book for people seeking jobs and those looking for progress at their work places.

The Author, Mr Kwaku Sintim-Misa, popularly known as KSM in the entertainment circle, indicated that now was the time for the youth to take advantage of the opportunities available to compete on the global market.

He however warned that they would falter if they did not equip themselves well, and expressed worry that the nation's educational system was devoid of career counseling and development which is vital in a nation's human resource development.

He said the lack of that programme in our educational system was his motivation in writing the book which is to guide the numerous graduates who could not secure employment as a result of their inability to present good curriculum vitae and give appropriate answers during interviews.

KSM also recommended the book for fresh graduates looking for jobs and those who want to progress on the job market.
