The ruling New Patriotic Party's (NPP) 2024 campaign communications director, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, says the restoration of nursing training allowance by the Akufo-Addo administration will earn the president kind remembrance from posterity.

In a post via X on Wednesday, May 22, Miracles Aboagye commended President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for reintroducing the allowance, which was cancelled by the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

"The Nursing Trainees who are beneficiaries are happy and the rich opposition are sad and complaining," the NPP communicator said, alluding to criticism from the NDC over the issue.

He stated that cancelling the allowance altogether would have been detrimental to nursing students from poor backgrounds seeking education.

"These young ones prefer to have an option of looking forward to their allowance even if it’s in arrears than to not dream of accessing education at all simply because they have no hope of getting the money for it," the communications director noted.

He believes anyone who supported the cancellation by former President John Mahama is an enemy of the youth and the poor.
