Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, A Man With A Possibility Mindset

Feature Article Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, A Man With A Possibility Mindset

I was watching H. E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia yesterday (6/5/23) in Walewale as he addressed the delegates of NPP. I could see a man full of possibilities for Ghana. I could see a man who is dedicated and committed to seeing Ghana develop. I got to know how he has contributed to major policies implementations in Ghana during erstwhile President J. A. Kufuor government, though he had no any intention of engaging in any partisan politics.

As most of us are aware, when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to power in 2001 with H. E. J. A. Kufuor as president, Ghana was already highly indebted. The then government needed to seek for debt relieves that would enable them to manage the country. It is refreshing to know that the ever brilliant Dr. Bawumia was given the opportunity by President Kufuor to serve as a lead technical analyst with other NPP government appointees. Dr Bawumia's possiblity mindset came to bare when people thought it was impossible but he said it was possible and true to his words Ghana was granted debt relieves amounting to Four Billion Dollars with other benefits such as sanitary, educational and health infrastructural developments under the highly indebted poor countries (HIPC) initiative.

Another important key contribution to the development of Ghana and NPP government in the President Kufuor's era by Dr. Bawumia is the redenomination of the Ghana Currency. He played a pivotal role with that possiblity mindset to the realization of all that very important currency redenomination. Yes, if you didn't know that our ever brilliant Dr. Bawumia played such a role, now you know.

With so much confidence and trust in him, H. E. J. A. Kufuor appointed him as a deputy governor of the Central Bank of Ghana. Dr Bawumia worked hard to the admiration of the gentle giant (JAK).

Dr. Bawumia's hard work, dedication and commitment to making Ghana a better country is not in doubt as illustrated above. He is always impactful at everywhere he finds himself. His mindset is always positive. Yes, we can mindset. It is possible.

It is abviously clear that Dr. Bawumia had a strong connection with the NPP government prior to his appointment as a running mate to Nana Addo in 2008. He had no intention at all to engage in partisan politics but that very important call came and he rightly answered it. Though, I believe it would not be easy leaving a big and secured position like deputy governor of Bank of Ghana for a running mate. He has so far positively changed the dynamics of politics in Ghana ever since he joined politics. He worked hard as a running mate and won power for NPP for two consecutive terms after two unsuccessful attempts. He is a true definition of perseverance and possibility. Some Ghanaians said on countless occasions and fora that Nana Addo will never become president of Ghana but with the possibility mindset of Dr Bawumia, Nana Addo is now two term president.

Dr. Bawumia as a Vice President undoubtedly has raised the bar at the office of the Vice President which will be very difficult for his successors to reach. He has proven that a very good Vice President can make meaningful impact in government if given the opportunity.

Do I even need to tell you what he has done as a Vice President of Ghana and the heir apparent to the president of Ghana? A very useful Vice President should have the trust and confidence of his boss and H. E. Dr. Bawumia has that. He tells his boss, it is possible and it is done.

Dr. Bawumia, a man with a possibility mindset is credited with highly impactful developmental projects and intiatives such as the sinohydro roads projects, medical drone delivery services, paperless port system, Ghana card, digital address system, one constituency; one ambulance, paperless Health Information Management System in hospitals, E - pharmacy, QR code system, gold for oil initiative, gold reserves at the Bank of Ghana, online renewal of NHIS card, agenda 111 projects, sourcing of funding from UK for the construction of Tamale and Kumasi International airports, mobile money interoperability, FSHS, Free TVET, restoration of nurses' and teachers' trainees allowance, among others

H. E. Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is indeed the best and next to lead NPP to break the eight in the 2024 elections. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, President of Ghana, 2025, it is possible, In Sha Allah.
