Many residents of Sege, capital of the Ada West District in the Greater Accra Region, believe that COVID-19 affects only the rich, not the poor contrary to scientific facts.

While some of them said the coronavirus may exist somewhere in the world but not Ghana, others said even if it was in the country, the number of infected people were being exaggerated because few Ghanaians were rich enough to contract it.

Covid-19 Pandemic: UNICEF Highlights Unequal Access To Remote Schooling

UNICEF, has indicated that nearly 1.2 billion schoolchildren are struggling with remote learning in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The agency says inequalities in access to technology and materials needed for children to continue learning while schools are closed is desperately unequal in many parts of the world.

Fears grow in Italy of post-Covid migrant emergency over summer

Concerns have surfaced in Italy that thousands of migrants will again begin to arrive on Italian shores, with coronavirus lockdown measures eased and NGO vessels recently resuming their patrols in the Mediterranean.

According to Italian newspaper reports quoting intelligence sources, more than 20,000 migrants are ready to depart from Libya.

For many, the summer vacation spells travel, holidays by the sea, and also time to hit the amusement parks. Across France, major attractions are gradually reopening with new hygiene measures in place, hoping desperately to make up for the millions of revenue lost during the Covid-19 lockdown.

Coronavirus Accelerating In Africa, Test Kits Needed - WHO

The coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic is accelerating in Africa, spreading to the hinterland from capital cities where it arrived with travelers, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Thursday.

But the WHO said there was no indication that severe cases and deaths were being missed, nor has the virus caused significant infections in refugee camps across the continent.

The opposition National Democratic Congress’ COVID-19 Technical Team has cautioned against a false sense of security following the easing of public gathering restrictions.

As schools prepare to open for some category of students in the coming days, the NDC feels the recent trends in the spread of the virus “do not suggest that students, teaching and non- teaching staff can avoid significant risk of exposure to the virus as the epidemic is not under control.”
