Ghanaian actress Martha Ankomah has insisted on seeing through her GH¢5 million lawsuit against colleague actor Kojo Nkansah Lil Win over alleged defamatory remarks he made about her career.

In an interview with Accra-based UTV earlier, the filmmaker intimated that she wants the rule of law to act on the matter.

"I have not withdrawn the suit, I believe the rule of law works in this country,” said the GTP brand ambassador.

She emphasized that public figures like themselves must be held accountable for insulting or defaming others.

"So I don't think you can insult anyone and go scot-free. If we say we are role models, people must learn from us so we have to set good examples," Ankomah said.

“If the court doesn't teach him a lesson, it will be a very bad example that may encourage the next generation to just say anything about people,” she added.

The lawsuit stems from comments Lil Win allegedly made criticizing Ankomah's refusal to work with actors in the Kumasi film industry, known as Kumawood.

According to reports, Lil Win called Ankomah directly and questioned why she sees herself as a star, claiming "Who knows you? What do you have?"

"Patience Ozorkwor came to Kumasi to shoot a movie. Aki and Pawpaw, Mr. Ibu and the rest came down to shoot a movie here. But for people like you, who call yourselves refined actors; how many times do these Nigerians come to Ghana to shoot movies? They are the ones who rather send for you guys,” said LilWin

Martha Ankomah believes Lil Win's remarks crossed a line and wants the courts to order her colleague to retract and apologize and also pay GHS5 million in damages to her.
