Ejisu by-election: Vote for independent candidate Kwabena Owusu Aduomi to uphold the Ashanti dignity — Group to voters

Voters in Ejisu constituency in the Ashanti region, are being urged to vote for independent candidate Kwabena Owusu Aduomi in the upcoming by-election to uphold the dignity of the Ashanti people.

The Grand Coalition Ghana, a coalition of minor political parties, released a statement endorsing Mr. Aduomi and calling on constituents to elect him on April 30.

"Hon. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi (No. 4) is in whom the spirit of Ancestress Nana Yaa Asantewaa is at work to free the Ashanti people from being enslaved, intimidated, and continually disrespected by any political party," said Jacob Osei Yeboah, leader of the GCG, in the statement.

The group accuses the governing NPP of disrespecting Ashanti voters and taking them for granted.

“It is a shear arrogance and ignorance on the part of the Minister of Roads to say he cannot work with a son of Ashanti, Hon. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi whom the electorate prefer," Yeboah stated.

Voters are to feel empowered by the recent return of ancient Ashanti artefacts from abroad and vote to defend their dignity, said the GCG.

“The voters of Ejisu say that the descendants of Tweneboah Koduah of Kumawu failed to sacrifice to bring liberation to Ashanti but they Ejisu voters are reminded of who they are because of the return of the artefacts to the Ashanti Kingdom," the statement further reads.

The GCG stressed that everyone who value Ashanti heritage and dignity should cast his or her vote for Mr. Aduomi on Tuesday, April 30, whether they are being offered money by the NPP or not.
