Former First Lady of the United States of America Michelle Obama has sent heart-melting birthday wishes to American music icon Beyoncé, who turned 42 today.

In a glowing tribute, Mrs Obama praised Beyoncé for bringing "so much joy" through her "talent and music."

"Happy birthday, Bey! Your talent and music has brought so much joy to all of our lives," Mrs. Obama wrote, adding, "You're truly one-of-one, and I’m just so proud of you!"

The former FLOTUS and the 28-time Grammy winner have frequently expressed mutual admiration for one another over the years.

Beyoncé performed at both of President Obama's inaugurations and was a vocal supporter during his campaigns.

In 2016, Mrs. Obama presented Queen Bey with the Billboard Icon Award, saying she "changes lives by empowering young women like herself."

Beyoncé responded by calling Mrs. Obama "one of the few people on this planet I would still call my boss."

The Obamas have continued cheering on the superstar since leaving the White House. When Beyoncé made history as the first black woman to headline Coachella in 2018, Mr. Obama tweeted that "Beyoncé gave a flawless performance and we are all blessed to be alive at the same time as her."

As she enters her fifth decade, Beyoncé shows no signs of slowing down. Her latest album Renaissance debuted at #1, making her the first solo artist to have their first seven studio albums top the Billboard charts.
