Kumawood Movies Hits International Via Mobile App

Kumawood in collaboration with MTN has hit the market with new technology to aid kumawood movie patrons both local and international watch their favourite movies on their phones everywhere through a Mobile App.

MTEC-Communications, mobile apps developers and MTN join herds to produce the application to support the kumawood movie industry attain high innovative at the international level.

At the official launch of the APP Wednesday in Kumasi Golden Bean hotel, Mr. Noel Kojo-Ganson, the General Manger in charge of Consumer Marketing at MTN said the partnership formed part of the vision of the company to launch the movie industry into the digital world.

According to him, Kumawood was fast growing within the movie industry of Ghana and the collaboration was to put the industry in the limelight.

"As part of MTN’s broader agenda to increase local content, the MTN Apps Challenge was launched some four years ago not only to harness local content talent in application development and build a strong affinity with the developer community but also to help grow generate new businesses". He stated.

He indicated that, "It is one of several innovative, relevant and user-friendly local mobile applications created for MTN subscribers, which is designed to host local movie content, short/ funny videos and celebrity news for movie lovers".

The provision of the Kumawood App will make access to local movies even more convenient and enjoyable because movie lovers now have unlimited access to local movies, to serve the interest of cherished customers.

Speaking in an interview with Modern Ghana, the CEO of MTEC Communications, Mr Chimeru Mbonu, hinted the App will be helpfull to support drive kumawood movies, since is the first time hitting African market.

The application available on google playstore he said "could be downloaded for instace access".

On his part, the CEO of Kumawood Multimedia, Sam Darko, said the App would go a long way to promote the industry and also save producers from piracy.

He denied the fact that the app would leads to collapse of distributors work, but rather go a long way to strengthen their job and promote it better.
