GEODRILL a mining firm which has been supporting the Azumah Nelson Fight Night together with it’s sister company ULTIMO GARDENS that are in the real estate industry have supported the Ghana Boxing Federation as they prepare the Black Bombers to Tokyo 2020 qualification in Dakar.

In a very brief presentation event, the President and CEO of GEODRILL and ULTIMO GARDENS Dave Harper on February 13 presented five air tickets and an undisclosed amount of money to support the Black Bombers as they embark on a mission to qualify the team to Tokyo, Japan.

The national boxing team visited the office of GEODRILL led by their President George Lamptey, First Vice President Abdul Samadu Mohammed and former WBC champion Professor Azumah Nelson.

According to Mr. Harper, the company have been supporting boxing for over a decade now and have good relations with the federation.

“GEODRILL is a long time supporter of Ghana Boxing, we took the Bombers to Australia [2018 Commonwealth Games]. Now they are going to Dakar for the Olympic Games qualifiers, we promise to support them and we have made good our promise”. Mr. Harper said.

“We are looking forward to good results from Dakar and extending our relationship” he added.

The Tokyo 2020 qualifier in Dakar will start on February 20 and end on February 29.

Meanwhile, three members of the team have been seeded in the International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) rankings because they have improve to the fifteen top boxers in their respective weight categories.

The three (3) members of Black Bombers are SHAKUL SAMED – 81Kg – Light Heavyweight (2019 African Games, Bronze Medalist), WALID OMAR – 63 Kg – Lightweight (2014 Commonwealth Games, Bronze Medalist & 2016 Rio Ghana’s Sole Boxing Olympian) and SULEMANA TETTEH – 52Kg – Light Flyweight (2019 African Games, Quarterfinalist)

The Bombers will train at the Bukom Boxing Arena and are expected to leave Accra for Dakar on Monday February 17, 2020.
