Tennis Ghana Tennis Team Target Title At African Junior Championship Qualifier

The National junior tennis team leaves for Togo today for the 2020 African Junior Qualifier Championship at Ominisports Lome, Togo.

The Ghanaian players are made up of 16 and under boys, Desmond Ayaba of Babosports, Richard Okine and Ishmael Nii Nortey Dowuona from Stadium tennis club. The boys 14 and under consist of Abubakari Yakubu Lea Junior of Atomic tennis club, Lameck Bagerbaseh and Raphael Nii Ankrah of Winneba Sports College tennis club.

The rest are: Girls 16 and under, Lawrencia Mainoo and Yayrah Gomashie of St. Francis tennis club and Shekina Adams from Baboosports.

The girls 14, made up of Tracy Ampah from Goldfields tennis club, Tarkwa, Tormegah and Shika Mckorley from Aviation tennis club have been training at the Accra Sports Stadium since early this month led by Head coach Noah Bagerbaseh and Yhaya Macculey who were in high spirits yesterday, raring to sparkle at the fourteen-day championship.

The President of Ghana Tennis Federation, Isaac Abogye, speaking to ghanatennis.org, said, "We wish the team the best of luck; team Ghana especially the boys 14 and 16 are very experienced and I know nothing will stop them from returning home with the event’s coveted trophy".
