The Bukom Square in Accra will be the action spot on Sunday, December 29, 2019, when the final edition of 2019 Greater Accra Tug of War competition comes up under the auspices of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly AMA.

At stake is the Mayor’s Cup donated by Hon. Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the mayor of Accra with other packages from sponsors.

Teams from coastal areas such as James Town, Sempe, Gbese, Otublohum, Osu, La, Chorkor, Korle Gonno, Dansoman and others would be represented to pull their strength out and grab the bragging rights.

CEO of Dreamland Sports Plus, the organisers, Emmanuel Olla Williams said the year had been eventful with many programmes, however, they hope the Bukom Challenge is going to be exciting and attractive.

Williams who is also youth coordinator of the Ghana Olympic Committee GOC and president of the Ghana Tug of War Association expressed that this year they have organized innovative events like the Festival of Relay Races at Cape Coast, the Community Under 15 Marathon Race at Dansoman in Accra and the Okaikoi Community and Kaneshie Market Women Sports Celebration.

He stressed that the regular Senior High Schools (SHS) Inter Houses Sports and Sanitation programme had been very successful, and thanked the various schools and sponsors, Royal Drinks.

“We want the people of Bukom to really feel part of the Year of Return celebrations because I know most of our people were taken to the Americas through the coastal route,” he said.
