The Director for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Prof. Peter Twumasi has revealed that his outlet has tasked the Chinese contractors carrying out renovation works at the Cape Coast Stadium to build an inner-perimeter around the pitch.

The move by the NSA is to beef up security at the stadium following the recent pitch invasion incidence by a supporter by name Suleman Awal during Ghana’s clash against South Africa in the opening match in Group C of the qualifiers to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Speaking in an interview with Otec FM, Prof. Peter Twumasi observed, “Renovation works are ongoing at the Cape Coast sports stadium to beef up the security system.

“The Chinese contractor has been tasked to build an Inner-Perimeter around the pitch as you see in Accra and Kumasi to prevent what happened when Ghana hosted South Africa recently”.

Once completed, there will be protection around the pitch to keep away any supporter who will plan to unlawfully invade during matchdays.
