Modernghana Sports can confirm that defender Lumor Agbenyenu who picked up an injury during one of the Black Stars training sessions has been released from the team’s camp as he returns to Real Mallorca for further assessment and treatment.

The left-back is one of the 23 players invited by Coach Kwesi Appiah for Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against South Africa as well as Sao Tome and Principe.

Training with the national team during their second day in camp, Lumor picked up a knock and had to be taken back to Accra for a scan. The result has revealed that he has a tear in his muscle and will not be able to feature for the Stars in their crucial AFCON qualifier against the Bafana Bafana.

A statement on the GFA’s Twitter handle confirmed, “Defender Lumor Agbenyenu has been ruled out of this evening's match after a scan in Accra confirmed he has torn his muscle. He has been released to return to his club, Real Mallorca for further assessment and treatment”.

Ghana’s AFCON qualifier against South Africa will come off later tonight at 19:00GMT at the Cape Coast Stadium.
