Ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, Captain for the Black Stars of Ghana, Andre Dede Ayew has reiterated that the team is ready for battle.

Ghana is chasing a 5th AFCON title after failing to lift the trophy in the past 37 years. They will be hoping to break that age-old jinx this year when they go to Egypt later this month to compete with 23 other countries for continental honour.

Speaking in an interview ahead of the assignment ahead, Dede Ayew has stressed that the team is ready for the upcoming tournament whiles insisting that he believes they can win gold if they stay calm and united.

“I just have that belief that if we stay calm, stay united, everything will be okay so we just need to just put that into place. My colleagues and I are ready. My colleagues and I are united and I assure every Ghanaian that we are ready for battle”, the player noted.

He further indicated that the aim of the team assembled by head coach James Kwesi Appiah is to go to the tournament and make the country proud.

“We are prepared. We are thinking of how we are going to make our nation proud. I think we have a good team, we have a good technical team too and we are ready to go and fight for our nation”, he said.

The Black Stars are currently in Abu Dhabi where they are holding their pre-tournament training tour.
