Cup of Nations AFCON 2019: I Deserve A Place In Kwesi Appiahs Squad – John Antwi
MAY 10, 2019 LISTEN

Misr El Makasa forward, John Antwi has insisted that his impressive heroics should earn him a place in Kwesi Appiah's squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Dreams FC star is yet to make his competitive debut for the senior national team.

The 26-year-old is the highest foreign scorer in the history of the Egyptian league.

Antwi has carved for himself arguably the best Ghanaian striker across the globe this season scoring 10 staggering league goals for Misr El-Makasa.

The bulky forward has made remarkable achievements on the venues to host the 2019 AFCON, 5 out of his 10 league goals this season has come on venues that are chosen for the tournament; on the Al Salam Stadium this season alone.

He scored in a 2:1 defeat to Al Ahly, he also scored one of the goals in a 2:1 win against El Qanah FC at the Alexandria Stadium, just to mention a few.

And with less than two months for the tournament start. Coach Kwesi Appiah is yet to name his squad for the tournament and the former Sekondi Hasaccas forward is anticipating to feature for the Black Stars in the 32nd edition of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

"My expectations are that my name will be in the squad when the call up is made (for the AFCON 2019) because looking at my performances here it will be good if I'm given the opportunity so I can also play for my country Ghana," he told FOX FM.

The former Ismaily and Al Shabab forward earned a call up during the 2018 FIFA World Cup against Uganda but was unused in the game but came on during the second half against Saudi Arabia in an international friendly.
