The Ghana BodyBuilding and Fitness Association of Ghana (GBFA) has organized a press conference at the Media Centre of the Accra Sports stadium at in connection with Ghana's participation at this year's Arnold Classic Competition which takes in South Africa from the 17th-19th May 2019.

Ghana is the current defending champion of the Arnold Classic held last year, with Cyril Kofi Adjah winning the overall trophy as well as earning the nation its first PRO CARD with all six athletes from who represented the nation, winning medals in their various weight categories.

Abdul Haye Yartey, president of the association said they have to defend the prestigious title, but their problem is funding to take all the athletes and officials to South Africa.

He appealed to corporate Ghana to support them to raise the flag of Ghana.

He noted that Ghana has the talent and skill but lack the financial support from the government.

He hinted that because government cannot kit them, they are going to buy their own kits to use for the event.

Some of the athletes were not happy with the current situation, and some have threatened not to compete for Ghana in the future is they are not treated well.

They said if footballers can be sponsored and not bring any honours home, why should the Ministry of Youth & Sports close its eyes on the sport that is bringing honours and rewards to the nation.

The Association organized a massive Health Walk at Dansoman on May Day and it was every exciting as well as educative as participants got information on fitness and living healthy lifestyle. Abdul Haye Yartey led the Walk.
