Head Coach for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has called on supporters of the club to direct any form of pressure to him rather than his players as they look for their first 3 points in the Group phase of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors after losing their Group C opener by a lone goal to nil to Al Hilal are poised to beat Zambian gianst Zesco United when they host them at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium tomorrow. The pressure on the team is on a high as followers look forward to a convincing victory tomorrow.

Speaking at a pre-match conference earlier today however, Coach Akonnor stressed that his players should not be pressured ahead of the crucial encounter. He opines that the players are aware of the task ahead and are motivated to get the job done on the day.

“You know win win win win, I don’t want that pressure on the boys. Of course they know what is at stake. They know they have to deliver in terms of winning. However I don’t want too much pressure on them. They have done enough but we have to continue with the work”.

“We are now in a different level. First it was the knockout stage, we were able to get there and now we are in the league process. We have lost our first match and at the back of their minds they know they have to win but I don’t want too much pressure on them”.

“Put the pressure on me and that is fine. You have always done that but I don’t want a situation where we will put too much pressure on them. They have done very well and we have to be honest” CK Akonnor shared.

Kotoko currently sits 3rd on the Group C table with no point. If they are able to win tomorrow, they will be on the same point with leaders Zesco United which will automatically open up the group. Kickoff time for the match is at 4pm.
