Kumasi Asante Kotoko has decided to drop interest in the signing of Ashgold trio - Shafui Mumuni, Richard Djodi and James Akaminko whom the club has been linked with to strengthen their squad ahead of the CAF Confederations Cup Group Stage matches.

The Kumasi based side had been linked with the Miners players in the last 48 hours and reports suggest discussions had already started for the transfer of the players to the Porcupine Warriors.

Speaking with Accra based Asempa fm this morning however, General Manager for Kotoko, Mr. George Amoako has revealed that they do not need services of the players anymore. He has accused the Obuasi based side of acting unprofessionally in the process of the negotiations with the players.

“I don't need the AshantiGold players anymore, we can go ahead without them. They have not acted professionally and so we are no more interested in their players”, George Amoako said.

He is also not happy Ashgold CEO Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has relayed information of the transfer of the players to the public through an interview he granted to a radio station in Kumasi when they have not yet replied to Kotoko’s transfer request for the players.

The Kotoko General Manager strongly holds the view that they can get other players from other clubs who are equally good to play and help their quest in Africa. They are now being linked with Inter Allies forward Victorien Adebayor as well as Accra Hearts of Oak poster boy Joseph Esso.
