JAN 8, 2019 LISTEN

Liverpool and Egyptian forward Mohammed Salah has won the Africa Best Player of the year award at the just ended Aiteo Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) awards ceremony. This is the second time the player has won the award having won it last year.

The ceremony was held at the Abdou Diouf International Conference Center in Senegal saw Salah competition with fellow team mate Sadio Mané and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. At the end of the day, it was the famous “Egyptian King” who came out on top with the highest number of votes to win the award.

The player was instrumental in the Pharaohs qualification to the world cup in Russia last year. He led the team and produced goals when the team needed it most. Not just that, Mo Salah has an exceptional season in Europe last season as he helped Liverpool to top four finish in the English Premier League as well as the finals of the Uefa Champions League.

His over 30 goals that season together with his exceptional performance throughout the season eventually won him the PFA player of the year award. Mo Salah also recently received the award as the BBC Africa Footballer of the year. An award which he won the previous year to show his consistency.

Even though both Sadio Mané and Aubameyang had a good season last year, many believe Salah deserves the award as Africa’s best player.
