Black Stars captain, Asamoah Gyan has threatened to drag Ghanaweb, The Sun and The Daily Mirror newspaper to the law court.

According to reports by The Sun and Daily Mirror, the Kayerispor striker who earned a mega-money move to the UAE before moving to the Chinese Super League has fallen on hard times financially.

"The former Sunderland striker, who earned £227,000-a-week at Shanghai SIPG between 2015 and 2017, is understood to have just £600 in his bank account and is unable to provide for his family," the report said.

However, Gyan has rubbished the reports made by those online portals but in an interview with Accra based Asempa FM, the 31-year-old emphatically said that he is settling issues in court but will take on The Sun, The Daily Mirror and the Ghanaweb to the law court.

"I am very surprised when I first read the story," he said. "I know the person who broke the story and I want to make it clear to all those people going round with those publications that, I will drag them to court.

"I am a human being and I know I have my flaws and you have the right to criticize me if I fail to perform on the pitch but don't never try to dent my reputation.

"They first began by saying I have only $600 in my account at National Investment Bank [NIB] which is not true because I don't save there.

"The Sun, The Daily Mirror and Ghanaweb should get ready because I am prepared to take them to court.

"Going to 2019, you have the right to criticize me but never try to drag my reputation to the gutters. I have received a lot of links and they are all negative because that is what sells.

"Anytime people see me, they find it difficult to believe what they hear on air because they don't see me to be like that.

"These young boys will write all the negative stuff but their families will not caution them to stop but when you drag them to court they will come and apologize but I am stating emphatically that I am dragging these online portals to court," he added.

The Ghana striker has dozens of business ventures in his home country and some of the countries where he has plied his trade.

He has interests in music production, entertainment with his Asa Band (as well as his personal music career) and event management (JetLink Events & Logistics).

He is due to begin operating an airline; BabyJet Airlines in 2019 after obtaining a license in October 2017.

Gyan, 33, is the all-time leading goalscorer of the senior national team (Black Stars) with 51 goals in 106 appearances.
