Fianoo commends Media

Obuasi, Nov. 21, GNA - Kudjoe Fianoo, acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ashanti Gold Sporting Club on Monday commended the media for supporting him during his short term in office.

Mr. Fianoo, whose spell with club has just come to an end, has during his short term in office assisted the management to improve the Club's performance in the last five matches of the just ended GT Premier League, that saw Ashgold placing seventh also out of the relegation zone.

The CEO who spoke to the GNA at Obuasi, said he was awaiting his confirmation or otherwise from the Board, adding that, "I am grateful to the media for their tremendous support and cooperation during my short period in office".

He said the club ne eds the support of the media on his path to regain its past glory, adding that, "the Press Corps in Obuasi therefore also has a role to play in this forward match of the club". Mr. Fianoo said Ashgold's progress or fall has a direct impact on the entire Obuasi Municipality and it should therefore be mandatory for all stakeholders including the media to assist in making the club to flourish.

The acting CEO therefore urged the Obuasi Press Corps to chart a new marriage with the management for the good of the club and the Municiplaity.

When he was asked whether he was prepared to stay with the club should the Board confirm him, Mr. Fianoo said, "why not, I see the CEO position as very challenging and I am ready to accept that challenge". He said Ashgold is a very attractive club and that a lot of people would want to be associated with it.

Mr. Fianoo praised the management of the club and described the members as very supportive. " I do not have any doubt that the management team cannot succeed. I enjoyed working with them. They are very supportive'.

The acting CEO said all the structures of the club are functioning to perfection except that the expected results could not be achieved as desired, but gave the assurance that " things will be improved in the next season as we are going to present our plans and vision in a report to the Board very soon for action to be taken".
