Football News Kevin Prince Boateng's Departure Creates Vacuum At Eintracht Frankfurt
SEP 7, 2018 LISTEN

The departure of Ghanaian forward Kevin Prince Boateng from Eintracht Frankfurt has created a huge vacuum at the club with Japanese midfielder Makoto Hasebe yet to start as a replacement for the player.

The Ghana international left Germany for Italy to join Sassuolo in the summer and has been impressive for his new side scoring two in three Serie A games as well as creating an assist.

The 31-year-old was instrumental for Frankfurt last season helping them win their first title- the DFB Pokal- in 33 years.

Having joined from Las Palmas, the German-born Ghanaian was a key figure and a leader for the Bundesliga side last season as they finished 8th.

Frankfurt lost at home over the weekend to Werder Bremen and look very unconvincing despite the opening day victory at Freiburg.

In the previous two Bundesliga, Frankfurt have manager only three efforts at goal and all three chances ended up in the post. The fact that there were only three in total speaks for a lack of creativity. Chances are in the - admittedly very short - season of Eintracht absolute in short supply.

In the central midfield, there is Lucas Torro and Gelson Fernandes, a duo who have strengths in winning balls back but not so good at distributing.

Meanwhile, World Cup star Ante Rebic is injured with Makoto Hasebe yet to make a start in the current campaign.
