Ghana Responds To FIFA’s Threat

Football News Ghana Responds To FIFAs Threat
AUG 15, 2018 LISTEN

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) of Ghana has responded to the letter FIFA sent to Ghana addressed to the leader of the liaison committee, Dr Kofi Amoah.

FIFA in a letter signed by their Secretary General Fatma Samoura threated Ghana that it faces a suspension if by the 27th of August 2018 they do not withdraw the liquidation case from court.

In a response to FIFA’s letter, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has forwarded a letter signed by Honorable Isaac Asiamah asking for an audience with them for the two parties to dialogue and tackle the issues.

FIFA was particular about the Government decision to liquidate the GFA. In addressing that, the MOYS has explained and given reasons why they took the decision to go on that path. They say the nature of the empirical and overwhelming corruption have necessitated the move to liquidate the GFA.

“Given the nature of the empirical and overwhelming evidence of widespread corruption, bribery match-fixing and other forms of illegality at all levels of the operations of the GFA, the GoG was left with no option but to enforce the domestic laws of Ghana to bring the operations of the GFA to halt as a first step to sanitizing and reforming football administration in Ghana. This is the intendment for the institution of proceedings under the bodies cooperate (Official Liquidation) ACT. ACT 180”.
