Veteran trainer Coach J.E Sarpong has lamented the shock sacking of the head coach of Aduana Stars, Yusif Abubakar. In a rather emotional submission, the experienced coach has revealed that he feels sorry for the axed gaffer.

Rumours of the sacking of Coach Yusif Abubakar hit the media earlier yesterday and it was officially confirmed today by the league champions communications director Oppong Evans that the club has parted ways with their coach on mutual basis.

Coach Yusif’s sacking has come as a shock to followers of the game with many finding it difficult to comprehend why such a decision will be taken at this point in time.

Speaking to Kumasi based Metro FM, coach Sarpong emphasized that the timing of the sack is not good for the club because they have a crucial continental assignment coming up. The Dormaa based club will return to action next week to face AS Vita Club of Congo in their third match of the CAF confederations cup.

“I feel sorry for Yusif Abubakar who has just left Aduana Stars and I also think it’s not healthy for a club playing a continental game just the week ahead of us to part ways with its head coach” he emphasized.

Coach J.E Sarpong further showered praises and admiration for Yusif Abubakar stating that the gaffer is a fantastic coach who even deserves to handle a national team in the country.

“To be honest, somebody like Yussif is a fantastic coach and let me say that he deserves to handle even a national team but the old system of the GFA didn’t recognize him. National team jobs were given based on biased preferences, they looked at your face and award you a job. I don’t know why Yusif has not been even given a national team duty as at now. It’s sad how his stay has ended at Aduana. I wish him well”.

After almost a year and a half at the Dormaa based club, Coach Yusif Abubakar is regarded by the club as one of the greatest ever in terms of achievements. He won them three trophies in total surpassing club legend Herbert Mensah of blessed memory who won them their first league trophy.

J.E Sarpong summed it all up by advising Ghanaians to stop comparing what happens in Europe where foreign clubs are fond of parting ways with the coaches anyhow. He opines that they foreign clubs have grown in football and business. Which makes us not to be on the same level as them.
