Former Hearts of Oak captain, Amankwah Mireku, has taken a swipe at the current crop of players at the club claiming they are to be blamed for the woes of the club.

The former Premier League winners have lost four of their eight Premier League games this season, including a second-half, lose against Karela United on Wednesday in the matchday 8 fixture where they conceded three second-half goals after going into the break 1-0 up with William Opoku scoring all the three goals for the Premier League debutants.

The supporters are not impressed with the poor run which has raised uncertainty around the future of Henry Wellington who is the head coach of the club.

However, Amankwah Mireku has slammed the players and called for underperforming players to be sacked instead of the Head coach.

”I’ve always said that the players make the manager, and not vice verca. The attitudes of the players doesn’t meet the standard of Hearts of Oak,” he said.

”When people call for the coach’s dismissal is baffles me. In my opinion the players should rather be sacked for poor performance.”

Hearts will take on Bechem United next in the Ghana Premier League at the Cape Coast Stadium.
