Ghana Football Association Technical Director Oti Akenteng wants under-fire Avram Grant to lead the Black Stars at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Israeli's future has been speculated after the poor run in the 2018 FIFA World Cup finals qualifiers.
There have been reports Grant would be sacked before the start of next year's tournament.
But Akenteng says there is no need to rush a decision on the former Chelsea manager.
''I think it will not be wise, honestly, if we rush into such a decision…. why don't we take our time, we gave the man a target, let's see…the first one he did it, and we have asked him to go and win the AFCON (2017), he hasn't gone yet, and you say we have sacked him, on what basis are you sacking him,'' he told Empire FM
''We are all elite people, we are all very knowledgeable, and we know that the coach is under contract…and I will be very surprised.
''I don't know if we have money to be able to offset these things and also to go into battle of this nature when we have an important assignment ahead of us.''
