Dogbe wins Tema Open Golf tourney

Tema, Oct. 24, GNA - Yao Dogbe returned a net score of 143 to win this year's Tema Open Golf Championship played at the Tema Country Golf Course last Sunday.

He was followed by Patrick Tender with 150 net, beating Felix Luis Antonio on count-back, G.T. Korley took the fourth position with 151 net while Maxwell Owusu Bonsu came fifth with 152 net.

In the Ladies category, Mona Myles-Lamptey came first with 169 net, Jessica Tei took the second position with 172 net, Felicity Gyeabour took the third position with 177 net while Beatrice Vetsch-Bempong placed fourth with 180 net.

The Seniors segment saw Charles Lamptey coming first with 38 net while Ama Morgan came second with 39 net.

Emos Korblah won the Professional's category with 280 gross, Vincent Torgah took the second position with 286 gross, while Francis Torgah and Kojo Barni placed third with 290 gross.

Fredrick Hurtubise won the Juniors encounter with 108 gross while Kwabena Asotia Boakye placed second with 115 gross.

The two-day 36-Hole Scratch Championship opened to amat eur and professional golfers throughout the country was sponsored by Subah Holdings Ghana Limited, Fist Atlantic Bank, Kenya Airways, and Accra Brewery Limited.

Joshua Peprah, Captain of Tema Country Golf Club commended the sponsors for coming to the aid of the Club and called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport.

Mr ERmmanuel Hudson-Odoi, Manager, Business Development and Marketing of Ssubah Holdings, said the sponsorship of the competition formed part of the company's corporate social responsibilities.

He expressed the hope that the company would continue to assist the development and promotion of the game into an international standard.
