Lumumba Stars register a win over Sharks

GNA

Cape Coast, Feb. 9, GNA - Ekumfi Eyisam Lumumba Stars brightened their chances of qualifying for the Central Region division two middle league when they pipped Elmina Coconut Grove Sharks 1-0 in their sub-middle league played at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium on Tuesday. Lumumba Stars, who whipped Mankessim Mir F/C 2-1 in their first match, will need just a draw in their last match against Real Moree United to qualify for the middle league.

From kick off, Sharks outplayed Lumumba and thrice came close to scoring but their forwards wasted the chances.

Lumumba forced the tide in their favour in the 20th minute and following persistent attacks on their opponent's vital area, midfielder Emmanuel Amoako, scored the match winner in the 26th minute. The second half saw the Sharks on the warpath as they took absolute command of the game and bombarded their opponents' goal area with shots from all angles but goalkeeper John Mensah worked tirelessly to save the situation.

In another development, Real Moree United thrashed Mankessim Mir F/C 2-0. Daniel Otoo scored both goals.
