Winneba Soccer Intellectuals appeals for help

Cape Coast, dec.10, GNA - The management of Winneba Soccer Intellectuals, Division One league campaigners on Saturday appealed to the Awutu-Efutu-Senya District Assembly to assist the club to enable it participate in the forthcoming Central Region Division Two super zonal soccer tournament scheduled for January 23 to January 30.

The club qualified with Great Odupon in the Central Region Zone Four Second Division league and the club will need 50 million cedis to prepare for the tournament, Mr Ato Botse, founder of the club disclosed. He said that even though the District Assembly's Common Fund makes provision for sports development, all their appeals to the Assembly have proved futile.

Mr Botse commended authorities of the Winneba Sports College for the assistance given to the club during the league and hoped other citizens of Winneba, organisations and individuals will come to the aid of the club in its preparations.

He was optimistic that the club will gain promotion to the First Division for the 2005 league season at the end of the tournament.
