King Faisal coach Sanzio Banner has joined the race for the Black Stars coaching job.

The German has formally applied to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for the job, which will become vacant after Ghana's world cup qualifier against Congo DR.

Coach Sam Arday has been appointed by the FA to handle the Stars for that game following the shock departure of Portuguese Mariano Barreto but the FA is looking for a substantive coach for the team.

Coach Banner is one of the three European coaches who have expressed interest in the Stars job.

The others are the Turk Mushin Ertugal, a former coach of South African club side Kaiser Chiefs and the Croat Ivan Buljan.

But the front-runner for the job remains former France Captain Marcel Desailly.

Minister of State responsible for Youth and Sports Rashid Bawa flew out to London on Tuesday to hold talks with the Ghanaian-born world cup winner.

Desailly has already expressed interest in the job.

Coach Sam Arday says he is seventy per cent sure that Marcel will accept to do the job.
