Sunyani (B/A) Aug. 24 GNA - Mr. Fred Zeini, Managing Director of F.Z. Company Limited, operators of a private radio station at Techiman in the Brong-Ahafo Region has denied a media publication that he threatened to shoot at any Kotoko supporter who was at the premises of the station.

In a signed statement copied to the GNA Sports, the Director said the alleged news item appeared in the August 18 and 20 issues of the 'Kotoko Express' sports paper.

He advised journalists to reciprocate the government's gesture of repealing the libel law by presenting objective and responsible reportage.

"The unfounded allegation made by the paper was not only aimed at assassinating the character of the management and workers of the station but also to spark off violence among the peace loving citizens of Techiman", he said.

Mr. Zeini said the management of the company was surprised when it received information that the director had pulled a gun at some Kotoko supporters.

"The publication also alleged that the managing director confirmed the threat issued to Abdulai Umar of the Public Affairs Directorate and Alhaji Ali, Chairman of Circle 111, of Asante Kotoko Football Club", he added.

Mr. Zeini explained that some Kotoko supporters once besieged the premises of the station on the claim that a sports presenter had said during a programme that Kotoko used to buy matches and that the allegation was attributed to some high-ranking officials of the club. The Managing Director appealed to the management of the club to advise "those who want to destroy the cordial relationship between the station and the club to desist from their acts for the mutual benefit of all".
