Napoli abandon Andre Ayew chase to register interest in Marseille midfielder Doria – Reports
Italian Serie A giants Napoli have abandoned their interest in signing Ghana star winger Andre Ayew to pursue another Olympique Marseille player Doria, according to Russian football transfer expert David De Cerame.
Napoli have been fighting to get the signature of the 24-year-old Ghanaian but have failed to meet Marseille's asking prices.
Last season they had a $12 million offer rejected by Marseille before the close of the winter transfer window and also failed to sign him last summer.
But journalist David De Cerame has claimed Napoli are rather considering Marseille midfielder Doria and not Andre Ayew.
“The Outstanding contract renewal is also a signal to supporters to give confidence to the young man who is recovering. I think Marseille player Doria is a player serving the interest of Napoli,” he said.
Andre has refused to renew his contract with Marseille and is set to head for the English Premier League in January with Everton and West Ham United reportedly leading the race to sign him.
