JOHANNESBURG (AFP) - What's in a name? The answer is a great deal of confusion for passengers using one South African airport, which has apparently changed its name twice in two weeks.

In keeping with South Africa's drive to change European or apartheid-era place names, the airport formerly known aswas targeted for a moniker overhaul.

According to The Star newspaper, recently the airport's name was officially changed to "Bram Fischer Airport" -- named after the celebrated anti-apartheid figure and former Nelson Mandela lawyer.

About a week later it was officially renamed the "Bram Fischer International Airport."

But it was not only the place name, but the place which officials appear to have found confusing.

"Bram Fischer Airport" was said to be in the Motheo District Municipality, while the "Bram Fischer International Airport" was in Mangaung Municipality.

Fortunately for travellers, taxi drivers know how to find it.
