Ghana will host the 10th African Bodybuilding Championship (GHANA 2010) from October 6 -11 to expose the continent’s finest body contours as well as select the continent’s representatives for the world event.
Sequel to that, the Chairman of the Ghana Bodybuilding & Fitness Association, Abdul-Hayy Yartey, and an executive board member of the African Bodybuilding Association will tour four regions, Ashanti, Western, Central and Greater Accra, to meet with the newly elected and constituted executives and bodybuilders to get the nation ready for the big event.
Ghana is one of the recognisable body building nations on the continent and it’s exemplary leadership under Yartey earned her the right to host the rest of the continent.
The country participated in the first African Championship in Egypt in 2006 and placed eighth and from then she has improved on her ratings.
In 2007, Ghana was fourth at the Algeria competition and a year later well-built Mustapha Richardson made the nation proud by winning bronze in Mauritius.
Ghana is betting on its first choice body build Asase to win the topmost award at this year’s event on home soil.
This year’s Man Ghana Bodybuilding Championship scheduled for Kumasi on September 4, will serve as a selection process for Ghana’s team to the African event.
