The Nationwide Supporters Union (NSU), the number supporters' group in the country, has urged all Ghanaians to rally behind the senior national team, the Black Stars, as they face Sudan on Sunday in a crucial World Cup qualifier at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra.

Alhaji Ismaela Ibrahim, General Secretary of NSU, who made the call, disclosed that his group “would provide massive support for the Stars on Sunday. We therefore urge them to play like they did against Mali and Sudan in their home countries.

“Since this match is crucial, we know that our Black Stars would not underrate the Sudanese, who are also looking to qualify for the Nations Cup in Angola,” he added.

Alhaji Ismaela said knowing that “if we win, Ghana could be the first African country to qualify for the World Cup, we are going to cheer the Black Stars till the final whistle is blown.

“We are bringing some innovations in supporting sports and we urge all soccer fans to be there.”

On his part, Faisal Awudu aka Net 2, a prominent member of NSU, admonished the Black Stars against complacency.

He said with the matches so far played, the Black Stars have amply  demonstrated their commitment to the national cause of qualifying for a second successive World Cup, “and the least we, as Ghanaians, can do is to give them our backing”.

He thanked Coca Cola Bottling Company Limited for supporting his group, adding, “Come Sunday, we are going to support the Black Stars and entertain spectators with the power of BRRRRRRRR of the coca cola.”

Faisal also showed appreciation to the executives of NSU such as Alhaji Ismaela and Joe Azziz, expressing the hope that they would continue to inspire the rest of the group.
