Appiah has been training with Spurs Setanta Sports reports that Tottenham Hotspur will now turn their focus to the future of Ghana skipper Stephen Appiah after the conclusion of a hectic January transfer window in North London.

Spurs were the big movers on Monday as they secured a deal for Republic of Ireland international Robbie Keane, who joins Wilson Palacios, Jermain Defoe, Carlo Cudicini and Pascal Chimbonda in moving to White Hart Lane in January.

Harry Redknapp will have done little to damage his 'wheeler-dealer' reputation by concluding the five deals but Appiah could yet make it six.

The midfielder has been training with the club in recent weeks and, given that he is available on a free transfer, Appiah can be signed outside of the transfer window.

Many clubs have shown an interest in Appiah following his release from Fenerbahce in August but Spurs have been at the front of the queue for some time having allowed the player to train with the club.

Redknapp first admitted his admiration for the former Juventus star when Portsmouth manager but the player's wage demands precluded any attempt to take him to Fratton Park last season.

The Spurs boss has been seeking assurances over the fitness of the player who starred at the 2006 World Cup for his country and it is understood that talks are scheduled for the coming days as Spurs make a decision over a deal.
