Soccer fans in the Central Region have appealed to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the Ghana 2008 tournament to make tickets available for them in order to patronize some the matches. They noted with concern the few tickets sent to the financial institutions in the region in spite of the region's fame in the history of Ghana soccer. They made the appeal in an interview with Radio Ghana in Cape Coast. According to them the tickets sent to the financial institutions at Agona Swedru, Mankessim, the University of Cape Coast and the Cape Coast main branch of the Commercial Bank as well as the post Offices were inadequate for the soccer fans in the region. The main Branch Manager of the Ghana Commercial Bank Eric Amar, confirmed the non availability of tickets at present and said it is liaising with its headquarters in Accra for more tickets to satisfy the needs of soccer fans. He said more people are yearning to get tickets to enable them witness the matches to be played at the Essipon Sports Stadium due to its proximity to Cape Coast. The regional head of the Ghana Posts, Agyen Frimpong told our correspondent that the region received tickets for the matches between Ghana-Guinea, Ghana-Morocco, and Niger-Cote d'Ivoire, among others. He said they expect more tickets for the matches with the Ghana's Black Stars.
