BLACKSTARS COACH Claude Le Roy led a 23-man squad including 4 local players and injured skipper Stephen Appiah to Dubai last week for 10 days to prepare for the forthcoming Ghana 2008 tournament.

Reports reaching DAILY GUIDE SPORTS from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials indicate that Ghana's opponents for friendly matches in Dubai were not yet known.

Meanwhile, the second choice goalkeeper, Sammy Adjei who plays in Israel was this week prevented by the officials of his club from joining the rest of the Ghana squad in Dubai.

In another development, Cote D'Ivoire who are in Group B and based in Sekondi alongside Nigeria, Mali and Benin are also camping in the Gulf where they will play against Spain while their top striker Didier Drogba has been named 2007 footballer of the year in his country by the local daily newspaper, Super Sports, after fetching 187 votes out of 200 ahead of his compatriots Boubacar Sanogo of Weder Bremen and brothers Toure Kolo of Arsenals and Barcelona's Yahaya Toure.

The Atlas Lions of Morocco have also named a list of 23 including 4 local players, three goalkeepers and one midfielder as they continue preparations till January 17, 2008 when they play Zambia on January 12 before coming to Ghana.

Mali named 23 players who included 3 locals and keeper Soumbai Diakite of Stade Malien in Bamako. They began camping in the United Arab Emirates last Monday and they will play Egypt on January 10 and Iran on January 13, 2008.

Black Stars opponents, Guinea who are to play friendly encounters against Florentina club of Italy and Borussia Dortmond of Germany before leaving to Ghana also just named their 23-man squad from the initial 35 players.

The coach however dropped Bego Bangoura of Boavista in Portugal and Turkey- based Ibrahim Ouattara.
