Last Monday, Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah launched his clothing line under the Label, StepApp, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.

The launch attracted a good number of local celebrities in sports, business and the arts although the event itself failed to rise to match the hype.

A regular flow of red and white wine and small talk nevertheless sustained the poolside party that saw guests watching other guests, and listening to uninspiring speeches instead of appreciating models in StepApp clothes.

Appiah's obsession with fashion is said to have started over a decade ago with the purchase of two pairs of trendy Karl Kani and Paco jeans trousers and a pair of Fila sneakers.

This has eventually metamorphosed into a commercial venture driven by a spirit of charity.
