Beverage Investments Ghana Ltd, otherwise known as Pepsi Cola, Ghana, has launched its Ghana (CAN) 2008 campaign amidst pomp and pageantry.

The campaign, which involves a lot of initiatives and programmes, includes a consumer promotion with three VW luxury sports cars as the ultimate prize.

The launch, which took place at the University of Ghana - Legon, attracted a large audience made up of mostly students and personnel from the football fraternity.

Launching the campaign, the National Marketing Manager of Pepsi Cola - Ghana, Mr William Agyei Amponsah, said the campaign, which involves six Pepsi International Stars, would run from November 5, 2007 to February 29, 2008.

The stars are Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari, David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry and Frank Lampard.
He explained that to win the ultimate prize, one needs to have a crown cork of Pepsi products each bearing the name of these six stars.

Other prizes include the winning of stadium tickets to watch the tournament, cash prizes of GH¢5 and GH¢1, free drinks and Pepsi T-shirts.

In a keynote address, the Managing Director of Pepsi Cola - Ghana, Mr Charles Boakye Nimako, commended the students for the large turnout and explained the motives behind the campaign.

He stressed that Pepsi Cola, being the official beverage sponsor of the Ghana 2008 football tournament, was using this campaign to create a lot of awareness, thrills, fun and excitement associated with such tournaments.

Mr Nimako was particularly excited over the winning of stadium tickets as some of the prizes of the promotion, as this would offer a lot of opportunities for the various stadiums to be full.

The campaign, which has two of our national stars, skipper Stephen Appiah and Sulley Ali Muntari, will dare the supporters to troop to the stadium and cheer the Stars to victory.
