Razak Is RTU Coach

Abdul Razak, former coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been appointed the new coach of Real Tamale United (RTU) with immediate effect.

The ex-Black Stars player replaces Papa Umar Thiam.
This was disclosed at an emergency meeting at Tamale where some changes within the management as well as technical teams of the club were made.

The meeting which was held on Sunday October 28, also accepted a request by Lepowura Alhaji M.N.D. Jawula, Board chairman of RTU to hand over his position to Alhaji Adam Ibrahim to enable the former concentrate his efforts in the affairs of Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Ghana 2008 where he is the vice chairman.

The contracts of Malik Jabir and Papa Umar Thiam, general manager and coach of RTU respectively were not renewed. The Board approved of a reasonable payment to the two as handshake for their meritorious service to the club.

Present at the meeting were Lepowura Jawula, Alhaji Adam Ibrahim, Sherif Ibrahim, Mahama Savanna, Alhaji Munkaila Adam and Alhaji Jones Abu Alhassan, all Board members of the club.

In a related development, National Channels Committee (Supporters Union) of RTU has appealed to Lepowura Alhaji Jawula, Board Chairman of the club not to relinquish his post.

They said RTU needs influential personalities who have the interest of the club to lead it.

Mr. Mohammed Aminu-Abio, spokesperson of the Channels Committee at a briefing with the media in Tamale on Monday alleged that certain top individuals within the club want to "hijack" RTU for their personal gain and there is the need for such moves to be resisted.
