Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan has insisted that he has no problem with Luis Suarez over the Uruguay star's handball in 2010.

The Black Stars suffered heartbreak after losing 4-2 on penalties after 120 minutes of football.

Ghana were awarded a penalty after Luis Suarez blocked Dominic Adiyiah's goal-bound header but a penalty awarded to the team was missed by Asamoah Gyan.

Suarez said ahead of the rematch at the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar that he owes no apology to Ghanaians because he was not at fault for the Black Stars’ failure because he did not miss the penalty, a subtle dig at Gyan.

In response, Gyan said to UK-based talkSPORT, "I’m a football player and I do understand the game. Back home, everybody who watched the game, they dislike him."

"I always say if I was Suarez I would have done the same thing to save my country. He’s a hero there.

"Although people see him as a cheat, he did what he had to do to get his country to the semi-final.

"People do hate him, but I’m in the game as well. He did what he had to do to get his country to the semi-final.

"It has been [more than] 10 years now and it still sticks in my mind. It is a pain that I have to live with," he added.

Suarez was impressive as Uruguay beat Ghana at the World Cup, but the 2-0 victory was not enough as both teams crashed out of the Qatar World Cup.
